GRADE QH SEX: MARE DOB: 2-3 Y/O HEIGHT: 15hh COLOR: SORREL $1,500 Folly has recently been started under saddle and coming along nicely. She has an incredibly sweet disposition and wants to please. She was taken out on the trails and didn't have any spook for us. She will walk trot canter and back. Her trot is slow and smooth. She lunges very well. Has nice conformation and flashy chrome. Clips, Loads, and bathes. Stands well for farrier. She's a young horse with a boat load of potential to be a great all around horse for local showing and 4-H. Take her and finish her any way you'd like! Folly was taken in on consignment. Owners are downsizing and parting with two of their horses. Good home a must for her. Current coggins, UTD immunizations and farrier. Have all health records. I like this horse but the "head set" stuff is a big turn off for me. What do you think?

She looks beautiful. You know my level of training (ZERO), but here's my two cents anyway. In the arena, she reminded me of those earlier, tedious-looking western pleasure videos. On the flip side, it also looked like it did not come naturally to her but was rather "taught" - she appeared to be moving her head up and down looking for a "comfortable" position. Standing and walking, she didn't lower her head, and out on the trail towards the end of the video her eyes/head were up, more alert and looking forward. Is this something that, with lots of patience, could be either unlearned or taught, being only 2-3 years old?

I agree Jacki. If you look at her at the end of the video out on a tail ride she looks much better, natural and relaxed, than in the "training" part of the video.

She's a coming three year old and they have her in a shanked bit. Heavy sigh. She isn't ever going to be a western pleasure horse, so are they trying to make her look like that, with her head down by her knees? Heavy sigh again. All it does is show she isn't a very good one. Which is the good news. She has way too much articulation for that. Looks more like a TB than a QH. Which for what you want, is a good thing.

I went to their website and facebook page. They have a "ranch" over by Reading PA that sells Western Pleasure horses. I suspect they got this grade filly at an auction and want to sell here before winter to avoid the feeding costs. She does look very TB and that is good for what I want. I bought Riley at 3 years old and he looked a lot like this horse. I think I will let this ad run a week or so longer in the hope nobody buys her, and I think with winter coming no one will. After that I will contact them and go see her. They have to know she looks very artificial as a western pleasure horse and maybe they will let her go for less.

The good news is when she's not getting picked on she seems to move better. $1500 for a green broke grade horse? I'd go look with $1000 and a trailer. They don't really want her and watching someone count out hundred dollar bills makes it pretty easy to let them load up and leave with a horse.

Yes, a 2 1/2 year old untrained grade mare going into winter around here is not worth much. I am thinking $700 -$800 and that's generous. I have made offers like this in the past, been turned down, and by January they were glad to sell for $500. I bought a great horse named Mosby from a "ranch" like this here in PA. They were asking $2,500, took $700 and delivered him to me. There are no ranches east of the Mississippi, they are called farms once you cross the river, but that does not prevent the "cowboys" from wearing huge belt buckles, having a big chaw in the cheek and talking funny. I once took a very good polo horse team penning for the first time and she did extremely well. A "cowboy" with chaw, buckle and all rode up to me in my English saddle at a cowboy walk and asked in a drawl, "How long's that horse been penning?" I said, "About 20 minutes".

No, I was wrong. The listings on craigslist and another horse sale site disappeared but today I just saw new post. The still are using that video.

I sent an email saying I am a trainer looking for a prospect. I asked if he was flexible on the price and have not received a reply. That's what got me looking for his past ads and I found them gone. But then they reappeared. I will keep on it. I do not think he can get $1,500 as we go into winter here for a grade untrained horse. We'll see.

I'd agree. $1500 is a lot for a grade, green broke horse. It's not even about winter, it's about market price. I have seen registered stock that's BROKE going for that price, and lucky to get it. Based on the picture (she's standing on a hill), I would hazard that she is conformationally built "down hill". Not that that's a huge problem, given her age. I do like how soft her eyes are though.

The ads have disappeared again for the above prospect. The seller never got back to me. I am thinking the horse is sold. This is a 4 year old Appendix mare. Why is it sellers seem to never take a picture with the horse on level ground? Same horse level ground but I do not have x-ray vision. Another pic of this horse. I know these are not good pictures but it's what they posted. Love the sneakers... good name Sneakers.

Yeah. I bypass horses that have blankets or really shitty pixtures of. People know what sells. That's just lazy

Here is a 4 year old Welsh Quarter Horse cross mare. $1,500 I kind of like her but the face might be difficult to sell. She is green broke. I think with being a mare, the face, being green broke and essentially a grade pony, the price it way too high. But I like her.
